New Year's Negligence!

What's New Year's about?
Ask this question today, and you'll probably get an answer like one of these:
"Making goals to do better things!", or...
"Starting exercising and saving money!", or...
"Reading my Bible more!"
All of these are great things to implement into your life. Let me ask you a question, though. How busy are you? How much free time do you have, and how much sleep do you get? I would imagine that the majority of us probably don't have much free time, and that many of us don't get as much sleep as we should. If you add even one of these things into your life today, you'll be draining your free time (if you have any), or what's more likely, your sleep.
If you begin exercising a moderate four times a week, including shower and set up times, you'll likely spend eight hours a week on exercise. If you divide that up over your week. That's roughly 1.1 hours a night of sleep.
If you read your Bible daily and haven't been, that's a rough four hours a week, which divided over the week is about .55 hours of sleep a night taken from you.
What I'm trying to get at is this; if you add good things to your schedule, but you don't get rid of the old things in your life, you'll end up with a crammed schedule and running out of time, until you're one of the 92% of people who fail their "resolutions."
Going to what we were talking about a moment ago, if you start eating salads, but keep eating your snacks and pizza, you're not going to lose weight or get healthier, all you'll do is add calories your day. Healthy calories, but more of them, nonetheless.
Let's get to the title and point of this post. Without "neglecting" the old habits of your life, you won't have time for the new ones. As well as doing good things, we need to get rid of those things that will slow us down from what we should be doing. Take a minute to evaluate what you need to throw out and get rid of in your schedule.
Saving money? Eliminate that gym membership you don't need and exercise at home.
...or pack meals instead of buying them at restaurants (something I
need to work more on.......).
Reading your Bible more? Get rid of that extra time on social media or a video game.
Look for simple ways to save time, and replace it with those good things you want to work on!
Anyway, enough rambling for now, I want to get back to writing some of my sequel (I received a slight kick in the pants to get moving (thankfully), so I've been trying to plug along at it).
I'm praying you all have a great day and beginning to your new year!!
Austin
