Situational Responsibilities

Updated: May 13, 2020

That was a whirlwind of a week! Last Thursday I was being told by the President of PCC that our situation was just one of increased caution for the time being, and that he would let us know if our situation changed..........as you might have guessed, it did! Friday night I was off campus with my campus family and some friends when I received a text that all students should attend a meeting the next day in the Crown Center. The contents of that meeting on Saturday completely changed the opinions of many on their situation, including mine. I spent the weekend saying "goodbye" to my friends and packing all of my belongings back into my car. Monday night I got the opportunity to cook a meal with some of my good friends and we had dinner together for the last time. Tuesday morning I dropped a friend off at the airport and continued my goodbyes. I left amidst an emotional group of close friends, and drove home over the next two days, stopping at an Aunt and Uncle's house along the way.

Now that I'm home and waiting for online classes to commence, I've had spare time to think and study God's word. One of things I've thought about is this; our situation in life does not affect our responsibilities.....at least not the most important ones. Many may be out of a job, others out of school, and many more are just quarantined home for the time being. This does not affect our responsibilities as creations of God. In Revelation 4:11 it says this;

"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."

We were created by God to please Him in what we do. It is still our duty to do so, no matter our situation. I'm not saying that your situation isn't bad, but an attitude of dissatisfaction, "woe is me," or even just complacency is not what we are called to have. We are created to please God and praise and glorify Him in all that we do, no matter our situation.

So, if you have some extra time on your hands, I encourage you to study how to best please God. It is a good use of time, and will bring your walk with God closer to what it should be, as long as you apply what you learn to your life.

I'm praying for everyone affected by this virus, and also praying that we as Christians take the opportunity to grow closer to the Lord, be a light for Him, and exhibit the trust that we have in Him and His word.

P.S.-I've really enjoyed this song this past semester, and it's great for putting your mind in the right place, I hope you enjoy it!
