Disappointments, but a New Start

I realize I'm a day late, but, welcome to 2019!! Disappointments may loom in your mind as you realize what you failed to accomplish last year, but, each new season (year, month, or day....), gives a hope and an opportunity to better yourself and do things right. I know there's things I wish I had taken the time to do or do better last year, but, last year is behind me now, so I start fresh on a new day, and a new year.
Yesterday's and today's disappointment included discovering that I have managed to lose about two-and-a-half chapters of my book. I typically work on Google Docs, but, I was working on an off-line copy that I downloaded and worked on in Word. About three months ago (gives you an idea of how diligent I am at writing during the semester....) I bought a new laptop. I transferred all (I thought) the files I needed from my old laptop to my new one, and then passed on the laptop. The drive got wiped so it would run better and not be clogged up with my papers and such, and I moved on. Yesterday I got on my computer and got on Google and opened my book up, to discover that I had not uploaded the off-line work I had done (about fifteen pages, and about two-and-a-half chapters). I thought "no biggie", and plugged my flash drive in to discover the off-line copy was not on there. After about an hour of searching between yesterday and today, I've decided it's gone. However, along with the theme of a new year, I'm moving on and starting fresh. While I remember the gist of what I had written, I might as well use this as an opportunity to start clean from what I do have, and steering a new direction if I desire.
While this does put me back a little, maybe it should prompt me to be more diligent in writing this sequel and getting it done and published.....and in making sure I've saved my work!
Happy New Year's to everyone, and I pray you all taking opportunities to start fresh....not just yearly, but daily....whether in your walk with God, your relationship (whether married, siblings, parents, or a significant other), your finances, your health, or anything else God is prompting you to evaluate and re-commit to Him!
Austin
